Inmarsat satellite system

Satellite Constellation Inmarsat includes 14 geostationary satellites. Distinctive feature of geostationary satellites is its immobility over a targeted point above the Equator. This seeming immobility is achieved through satellite spin along circular orbit coinciding with equatorial plane, with angular speed equal to the speed of the Earth rotational rate. Herewith orbital altitude makes 35,786 km.

 

Inmarsat satellites provide coverage of the Earth surface with latitude restrictions – 76°.
