Expedition "Routes of Russian sailors through two oceans" on "Slavianka" yacht got under way

In early December, an international expedition "Routes of Russian sailors through the two oceans" is off and running from the Turkish port of Marmaris on “Slavianka” sailing yacht.

The expedition began on December 2. For ten days of the campaign, sailing yacht will cross the Mediterranean Sea and pass Gibraltar. Further, the expedition route will pass through Casablanca (Morocco) and Las Palmas Gran Canaria (Spain). “Slavianka” will cross the Atlantic Ocean, reach the shores of La Guaira (Venezuela), pass the Panama Canal and cross the Pacific Ocean with a visit to Hawaii (USA) and Akita (Japan). The solemn arrival in Vladivostok is scheduled for April 2, 2021. During the four months of the voyage, 15,000 nautical miles will be covered.

During this sailing the following social and cultural programs and projects are envisaged:

• Program "One World, One Ocean" - cultural and educational events for foreign guests about Russia, its history, the Russian language and the Russian culture; - Project "Reserves of Humanity" - hydrometeorological reconnaissance of the Sea Art Club circumnavigation route on the bark "Running in Waves";

• The program "Memory of Generations" - information coverage when passing and visiting the expedition participants memorable and memorial places associated with the Russian sailors;

• Project "Russia Maritime" - a mobile photo-media exhibition with the Maritime Art Club on board the ship and in the press center, telling about the history and modern state of the domestic fleet, geographical discoveries, the development of the Northern Sea Route, modern ports and shipyards of Russia, cruise river and sea shipping, maritime education, maritime shipping companies, etc.

To ensure the safety of navigation and to create a comfortable yacht environment for the crew, Morsviazsputnik equipped “Slavyanka” sailing yacht with Inmarsat Fleet One and Iridium Extreme 9575 satellite communications equipment, and organized the provision of modern mobile satellite communication channels based on the above-mentioned equipment.
