The project on construction of the arctic submarine fiber optic cable line Murmansk - Vladivostok - Polar Express

The project on the construction of the transarctic underwater fiber-optic communication line Murmansk - Vladivostok - Polar Express - is carried out under the aegis of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, the Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport (Rosmorrechflot) by Federal State Unitary Enterprises (FSUEs) Rosmorport and Morsviazsputnik. The main contracting organization is appointed JSC "Perspective technologies agency”. The operator of the transarctic under-water cable line  is  Morsviazsputnik.
A new under-water cable system with a total length of 12,650 km will be laid along the geographically shortest and unparalleled route between Europe and Asia. The Polar Express cable line includes 6 pairs of optical fibers with the capacity of 52-104 Tbt/sec. The project implicated the installation of 150 underwater optic repeaters and the organization of 10 landpoints (land stations) from Murmansk to Vladivostok with a planned completion date in 2026.
